The Hong Kong Palace Museum is currently hosting an exhibition of relics from ancient Egypt.

The museum has partnered with Kowloon Motor Bus to launch ten themed buses, offering residents an encounter with ancient Egyptian history across Hong Kong.

Featuring the exhibition's beloved character "Pharaoh Cat" and the bus company's icon "KMB Boy," the buses extend the ancient Egyptian cultural experience beyond the museum.

Themed stickers can be found inside the buses too -- seatbacks display how life in Hong Kong connects to ancient Egypt.

By comparing things like food, cultural customs and writing systems, the design lets passengers learn cool facts on the ride.

Starting today, ten themed buses will hit the road.

They will serve several routes passing through the West Kowloon Cultural District, including open-top bus HK1, "Pet Bus Tour", W4 to Tsim Sha Tsui and 296D to Tseung Kwan O.

At over 100 bus stops across the city, the museum has introduced special digital posters presented in ancient Egyptian characters, Chinese and English.

As of today, the museum has welcomed some 280,000 visitors for the exhibition "Ancient Egypt Unveiled: Treasures from Egyptian Museums."

With four more months to go, Museum Director of the Palace Museum Louis Ng is confident that the exhibition will reach their target of 700,000 visitors,
making it the most popular display ever.

He said, "For the first time, I think the Hong Kong Palace Museum collaborated with KMB to bring art and culture to a wider audience. I think we are quite happy with this collaboration that I think we can diversify our offerings."

EMILY CHEUNG Commercial Director of KMB said, "We're happy for the collaboration and we can be tend to utilize all our bus routes for a different collaboration with different sectors. So we're happy with this collaboration and we think we can do a lot more in the future."

In celebration of Hong Kong Art March 2026, the Hong Kong Palace Museum and KMB will distribute 500 exhibition tickets during the one-month operation of the themed buses. Members of the public can redeem tickets via KMB's mobile app.
