Tehran struck by heavy strikes by US-Israel forces on Day Seven of war

In the Iran war, reports say the Pentagon is preparing for reinforcements that could extend operations through September, as Israeli troops claim they were hitting the Iranian regime infrastructure in a "new phase" of the war.

Firepower surged dramatically during a broad wave of bombardment on the seventh day of the US-Israeli military campaign "Epic Fury." 

Plumes of smoke rose from various parts of Tehran early Friday morning. 

Israelis say they have crushed hundreds of Iranian missile launchers and air defense systems in a new phase of war that is aimed at toppling Iran's regime and military capacity. 

The 12,000-seat Azadi Stadium in western Tehran was destroyed in an airstrike. The sports complex was claimed to have been used to station military units of Iran to deter threats from the US and Israel. 
 
A CNN correspondent was on his way to Tehran. He said he saw no sign of panic. "All the shops are open. All the shops are really well stocked, even with fresh things like for instance fruits and vegetables."

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps said it initiated a fresh round of ballistic revenge by firing Khorramshahr-4 missile equipped with one-ton warhead at the Ben Gurian Airport and air force base in Tel Aviv. 

The Guards said their drones struck the USS Abraham Lincoln in the Gulf of Oman. The US Central Command refuted Tehran's assertions, saying the missiles "didn't even come close." A video footage released by CENTCOM showed US forces launching strikes against an Iranian drone carrier. 

Donald Trump said Iran's Navy is "gone" after 24 of Iranian vessels came under US attack in three days. 

The US president ramped up his call on the Iranian military to lay down their arms, saying the country's air force has been severely damaged.

In an interview with Politico, Trump said he does not accept Mojtaba Khamenei succeeding his father Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as Iran's new supreme leader.

Trump said he has to "be involved in the appointment." Iran has rejected the idea.

In the spillover of the war, Qatari authorities elevated national security level after its air-defense systems intercepted Iranian missile attacks on capital Doha. 

On Thursday, Israel was massing multiple trucks carrying tanks towards the border with Lebanon for a ground offensive against Hezbollah. 

French President Emmanuel Macron stressed in a social media post that "everything" must be done to prevent Lebanon from being drawn into war. He pledged France would strengthen cooperation with the Lebanese forces.
