BYD unveils its 2nd-gen Blade Battery and Flash Charging system

Electric-vehicle maker BYD announced the launching of its second-generation Blade Battery which features the world's fastest mass-production charging speed.
The company is planning to build 20,000 flash charging stations in China.
BYD founder and CEO Wang Chuanfu noted the latest version offers flash charging technology and improved low-temperature performance.
The battery is capable of charging from 10 to 70 percent as low as under five minutes at normal temperature, and from 10 to 97 percent in nine minutes.
During a cold weather testing in the northeastern city of Harbin, it only took about 12 minutes to charge the Blade Battery from 20 to 97 percent in minus 20 degrees Celsius.
BYD is eyeing to tap into northern China and other regions with cold weather to seize the market share of petrol vehicles.
