Blasts and traffic disruptions continued across the Middle East as Iran launched retaliatory attacks in the region.

The Foreign Ministry says another 470 Chinese nationals were safely evacuated from Iran.

With an urge to take concrete measures to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel and institutions, Foreign Minister Wang Yi told his Israeli counterpart that Beijing firmly opposes to the Israeli-US joint strikes and will continue to play a constructive role in promoting de-escalation.

The killing of Iran's supreme leader has prompted its military to fire a barrage of drones and missiles at Gulf nations.

There's increased police presence outside a US diplomatic facility in the United Arab Emirates following the report of a blast there late Tuesday night.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed that an Iranian drone struck the parking lot of a US consulate in Dubai. The limited fire was shortly extinguished, causing no injuries.

On the same day, Emirati officials confirmed intercepting an Iranian drone at the port of Fujairah. Oil storage and trading facilities there have resumed operations after a major blaze sparked by debris of the drone was put out.

Qatar says it was targeted by two ballistic missiles from Iran on Tuesday and that one of them hit the US's Al Udeid Air Base in Doha.

Washington has alerted American citizens to leave more than a dozen countries right away with any available commercial transportation amid a widening Iran war.

Flightradar24 data showed some 21,300 scheduled departures and arrivals have been cancelled at seven major airports including Dubai, Doha and Abu Dhabi since the strikes started.

Hundreds and thousands of travellers left stranded in the Gulf were scrambling to secure seats on a limited number of repatriation flights.

An Italian tourist who got stranded in Dubai with his friend said they bought bus tickets to Oman and their return flights scheduled to depart Tuesday morning. He expects arriving in Rome in the afternoon and said his only thought is to get home.

Meanwhile, in Khan Younis, many displaced Palestinians who are still reeling from the Israeli attacks on Gaza Strip closely watched the latest developments in the Middle East. They expressed distress about the impact on their lives.

Some said they are fed up with wars and the horror of war, fearing the economy and the Rafah crossing might be affected.

Foreign Minister Wang Yi had a phone conversation with his Israeli counterpart Gideon Sa'ar and said China has consistently advocated resolving international and regional hotspot issues through dialogue and consultation.

Wang emphasised all parties should abide by the purposes and principles of the UN Charter.
