China's top political advisory body opens annual session in Beijing

The Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee, China's top political advisory body, opened its annual session this afternoon in Beijing.
President Xi Jinping, together with other leaders, attended the opening meeting of the fourth session of the 14th CPPCC National Committee at the Great Hall of the People.
Wang Huning, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, delivered a work report.
Wang said in the past year, China successfully achieved its main economic and social development goals, while "new quality productive forces" developed steadily, and the CPPCC achieved new results in all aspects of its work.
This included consultations and deliberations on deepening reform of the economic system, as well as on strengthening the Greater Bay Area.
Wang also said CPPCC should work to help secure a good start to the "15th Five-Year Plan" this year.
