Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference opens annual session in Beijing.

The Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, China's top political advisory body, opened its annual session on Wednesday in Beijing.

President Xi Jinping, together with other leaders, attended the opening meeting of the fourth session of the 14th CPPCC National Committee at the Great Hall of the People.

The agenda for the session was reviewed and approved at the meeting.

Wang Huning, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, delivered a work report on behalf of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee.

Wang said in the past year, China successfully achieved its main economic and social development goals, new-type productive forces steadily developed, and the CPPCC achieved new results in all aspects of its work, much of which was related to Hong Kong and Macao, including the strengthening of the alignment of rules in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

He noted that the CPPCC also organised members to conduct inspections and studies on supporting Hong Kong and Macao's better integration and serving the overall development of the country.
