MTR will allow dogs in heavy rail for the first time on Sunday for Dogathon 2026

This Sunday, the MTR will allow dogs on its heavy rail network for the first time.

Sunday's event will be held in conjunction with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals' "Dogathon 2026” with 1,200 slots available. 

Passengers with dogs will be required to pre-register and donate HK$90. 

Dogs were required to wear a leash for identification and must use the last carriage of trains and remain in that carriage for the entire journey.

Before entering the MTR area, dogs must be placed in a completely sealed pet carrier or backpack, with no part of their body exposed, and wheeled pet strollers are not permitted.
