US President Donald Trump on Monday threatened countries around the world to abide by any tariff deals they agreed to despite the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that struck down many of his far-reaching taxes on imports.

Meanwhile China's Commerce Ministry has urged the United States to abandon its unilateral tariffs also indicating that it is willing to hold another round of trade talks with the world's largest economy.

The US president warned on social media for countries not to play games with what he calls "the ridiculous Supreme Court decision, especially those that have ripped off the USA for years," saying they will be met with a much higher tariff and "worse than that which they just recently agreed to. Buyer Beware!"

The court's Friday decision struck down tariffs Trump had imposed on nearly every country using an emergency powers law. The Republican president won't let go of his favourite tool of tariffs however, for rewriting the rules of global commerce and applying international pressure.

The European Parliament announced Monday that it is postponing votes on the EU-US tariffs deal reached in 2025, and asked for more clarity and stability before resuming its legislative process on the matter.

Bernd Lange, Chair of the European Parliament Committee on International Trade said: "This gives us the impression that this is so uncertain what now the development will bring. This 15% is limited based on the Trade Act 122 for 150 days and nobody knows what will happen after. And it's unclear if there will be additional measures or how the United States will really guarantee that the deal of Turnberry (Turnberry Deal) will be respected."

American and European Union officials sealed a trade deal last July at Trump's Turnberry Scottish golf resort that imposes a 15 percent import tax on 70 percent of European goods exported to the United States.
