A blast at a Moscow train station has killed a police officer and injured several others. This as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on the fourth anniversary of Russia's invasion of his country, that Ukraine has defended its independence since the Russian invasion and he will not betray the sacrifices made by the country's people as they seek peace. Meanwhile Russian President Vladimir Putin marked the day by meeting with widows whose husbands have been killed in the conflict with Ukraine. An unidentified assailant detonated an explosive device next to a patrol vehicle in Moscow early Tuesday, killing himself and a police officer. The attack happened minutes after midnight near the Savyolovsky Train Station in the Russian capital's downtown area. The blast also injured two others who were hospitalised. Russia's Investigative Committee said it has launched a probe into the attack. It didn't name the assailant or his motives. This as Ukraine's Security Services said that a woman recruited by Russia was responsible for Sunday's attack in the western city of Lviv. The explosion killed a policewoman and injured 25. Reporters were told that it was a coordinated attack in which police were lured to a scene of a made-up robbery before the explosives were detonated. Meanwhile Russian President Vladimir Putin marked the fourth anniversary of his country's invasion of Ukraine by visiting widows whose husbands have been killed in the conflict. "Unfortunately, your protectors, the protectors of your families, are no longer with you. But the homeland for which they gave their lives will always be by your side, " Putin told them. Putin also awarded military honours to personnel fighting in Ukraine on Russia's Defender of the Fatherland Day, which falls a day before the anniversary of the four-year conflict in Ukraine. Meanwhile, Hungary has blocked the European Union's latest sanctions plan against Russia and said it will hold up a big new loan set for Ukraine. Budapest said it would stand firm until Russian oil deliveries to Hungary resume. Russian shipments to Hungary have been interrupted since January 27th after what Ukrainian officials say were Russian drone attacks which damaged the Druzhba pipeline, which carries Russian crude across Ukraine territory and into Central Europe. Hungary had previously agreed to the loan to Ukraine.
