More than 680,000 people crossed the border on final day of CNY break

The Immigration Department recorded over 680,000 people crossing the border as of 4 p.m. on the final day of the Lunar New Year holidays.
Some 40 percent of those entering the city were local residents.
The three-day-long holiday period is nearing its end with scores of residents seen returning to the city via high speed rail at the West Kowloon Station.
Many of them said they had to promptly come back to the city in order to make it in time for work.
This as immigration authorities expect the returning figure to reach its peak on Sunday.
