Cooking fire prompts evacuation at Tseung Kwan O Estate

A cooking fire broke out at Kin Ming Estate in Tseung Kwan O overnight. No injuries were reported.
The incident occurred at around 2:30am, where about 200 residents evacuated on their own.
Some were seen carrying their pets downstairs.
Firefighters and police responded to the scene.
Authorities say smoke was detected from a fifth-floor unit. The resident reportedly fell asleep while cooking and forgot to turn off the stove.
After hearing the fire alarm, the occupant switched off the cooker and extinguished the fire with water.
Police say the fire is not considered suspicious.
