Leaders from around the world have delivered congratulatory messages to those who celebrate the Spring Festival, another name for the Lunar New Year. "May the Year of the Horse bring you happiness, prosperity and success. Happy Lunar New Year." Through a video, Australia's Prime Minister sent his new year greetings. In Mandarin, Russia's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson wished all those celebrating the festival a "lucky and smooth" year ahead. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in a statement that the Spring Festival is "a time for families and friends to gather, reflect on the past, and look forward with hope and determination to the opportunities in the year ahead." He ended the statement by wishing people "health, happiness, and success" in the new year. Singapore's Prime Minister said the horse represents movement and change in the Chinese Zodiac. "But the fire horse also symbolises resiliance and the strength of spirit," said Wong. "I wish everyone a happy Chinese New Year, and a year filled with good health, peace and prosperity." Meanwhile, in a post featuring the background music, "Gong Xi Fa Cai," Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim wished all Malaysians happiness, health and prosperity.
