A non-ethnic Chinese man aged about 60 was suspected of having lost 80 million dollars after falling prey to an investment scam.
Police said on their social media page that the man met the fraudster through Facebook.
The scammer claimed to be an expat living in Hong Kong, who's an "investment expert."
The pair maintained contact over a mobile phone app and developed a romantic relationship online.
The scammer then persuaded the victim to invest in crypto assets, providing a link to a fake website.
The victim then deposited money into different cryptocurrency accounts multiple times, resulting in a loss of 80 million dollars.
