Today is the lunar new year's eve, and many residents went to the market early to buy ingredients to cook their reunion dinner. At Kowloon City Market, the place was packed in the morning. Many people were choosing seafood at the stalls, including lobsters and prawns. The live-chicken stalls also had long lines. Stall owners said some customers placed orders three to four days in advance. Some residents said they expect to spend one to two thousand dollars on groceries for the festival and won’t be “scrimping.” But some stall owners noted that with the long holiday, more people are traveling or going north to spend, and they expect business and foot traffic to be down about 10% year-on-year.
