A City University female student has been arrested on suspicion of doxxing. The suspect allegedly disclosed the personal data of a doctor's daughter last year, including her name and address -- without consent and causing harm. The suspect, surnamed Cheng, posted on social media that she was arrested. She raised concerns that "MediSafe," a medication prescription app which has won several awards, was not independently developed by secondary student, who is the daughter of Dr. Ronnie Poon. Reportedly, Cheng, alongside two other social media users, allegedly published posts and comments on multiple platforms, targeting the secondary student and her family members between June and October last year. After her school, their names and address were disclosed, the family was said to have suffered harassment in phone calls and emails. The family was said to have reported the case to the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data in November before the case was referred to the police for follow-up. The suspect, reportedly, admitted to having posted relevant content. The secondary student's parents issued a statement last year after the incident. They say their daughter continued to face "relentless" cyberbullying and was "on the brink of a breakdown."
