Police have arrested three men and a woman, on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud in connection with the recent so-called "crash-for-cash" scams.

After police reviewed more than 100 suspicious traffic accident-related claims, police arrested a local couple -- both aged 37. They are allegedly involved in 22 suspicious traffic accident insurance claims. They claimed to be injured in the neck, being the driver and passenger on a private car or a taxi, or sometimes a pedestrian being hit by cars. They then claimed compensations from insurance companies or another driver.

The highest amount of claims topped 300 thousand dollars.

Two other men apprehended are doctors, aged 56 and 69 respectively. They are allegedly involved in dozens of claims of a similar nature.

Police are not ruling out more arrests.
