The eMPF platform is scrapping an electronic verification system for registration, in a bid to improve security. People who wish to set up an account have to do it via "iAM Smart" -- the government's one-stop digital services app. The move came after someone used forged identity cards to open accounts through the "electronic Know-Your-Customer" system, or eKYC, which was previously listed as an option alongside iAM Smart. Chairwoman of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority Ayesha Macpherson Lau said there was no leakage of personal data in the incident, but the Authority decided to stop the use of eKYC for registration. Users who need assistance when using iAM Smart for registration, can visit any eMPF Service Centre with their ID cards starting February 2.
