Chief Executive John Lee stated on social media that the Hong Kong Marathon helps consolidate Hong Kong’s status as the city of international sporting events, and that the HKSAR Government will continue to organize a diverse range of sports and recreational activities. John Lee noted that today’s weather forecast is generally fine—warm and dry during the day—providing favorable conditions for runners to compete in greater comfort. He wished all athletes an enjoyable race and outstanding results. He also said the Hong Kong Marathon has received “M Mark” recognition from the Major Sports Events Committee, attracting running enthusiasts from around the world over the years to compete amid the city’s unique urban scenery, further consolidating Hong Kong’s status as a hub for international sports events. The HKSAR Government will continue to actively promote the elite, event-focused, professional, industrial, and popularized development of sports, and will organize a wide variety of sports and recreational activities to encourage the public to develop a regular exercise habit.
