Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer says that Republicans abdicated their responsibility after they voted to dismiss a war powers resolution that would have given Congress a say on President Donald Trump's future military actions in Venezuela. This as the Venezuelan people are feeling uneasy with the uncertainty that followed the capture of their leader Nicolas Maduro on January 3rd. Thousands of Venezuelans prayed Wednesday for their country. They gathered during a major Catholic procession in Barquisimeto about 270 kilometres west of Caracas. One woman said, "We pray for our country because our country truly needs God." After the U.S. military took Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro, President Donald Trump said he would run Venezuela at least temporarily, and tap its vast oil reserves. Senator Schumer said Trump's actions are a roadmap to another endless war. "Look, Americans tonight are wondering how they're going to pay their bills. And Republicans in the Senate abdicated their responsibility and said, if you want to go to war in South America, go ahead. How does that look? What has happened tonight is a roadmap to another endless war because this Senate, under Republican leadership, failed to assert its legitimate and needed authority."
