Danish and Greenlandic officials stated, on the eve of their visit to the White House, that Greenland will not be sold to the United States.

Greenland’s Minister for Business and Mineral Resources, Naaja Nathanielsen, said on Tuesday that Greenland is their home and that the local people have the right to decide their own future.

Greenland’s Premier Jens-Frederick Nielsen also said that if the choice were only between Denmark and the United States, he would choose Denmark.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen emphasized that Greenland will not be sold.

In Nuuk, the capital of Greenland, some shops sell clothing printed with the words “Greenland is not for sale.” 

Denmark’s Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen,
together with Greenland’s Foreign Minister Vivian Motzfeldt, will visit the White House on Wednesday. According to reports, during meetings with U.S. Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, they will reiterate that Greenland will not become part of the United States.
