China's domestically produced large passenger aircraft C919 on Monday began operation on a new route linking Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province, with Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province, according to the new route' s operator China Southern Airlines. The entry into operation of the C919 on the Guangzhou-Nanjing route signifies that the C919 has been regularly added to the services of passenger airlift between Guangzhou and Nanjing. China Southern Airlines plans to operate two round-trip flights daily between the two large cities, which are some 1,200 kilometers apart in aviation. With the C919's addition, the air carrier operates eight flights on its Guangzhou-Nanjing express route per day, further facilitating personnel exchanges and economic and trade development between two major city clusters in southern and eastern China -- the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Yangtze River Delta region. The C919 is a narrow-body passenger aircraft with a maximum capacity of 192 seats. It is China's first self-developed trunk jetliner, built in accordance with international airworthiness standards and featuring independently registered intellectual property rights.
