Police continue their investigation into the gas explosion at a tenement building in To Kwa Wan. A man who fell onto the street remains in critical condition. It is understood that he changed the gas cylinder himself before the incident. The incident occurred at the intersection of Pak Tai Street and San Shan Road, in a low-floor unit of a tenement building. The unit was a subdivided flat with five units. Preliminary investigations believe that someone in the unit was using a gas stove. The 42-year-old male resident changed the gas cylinder before the incident, but improper installation of the hose caused a gas leak. He then smoked inside the unit, triggering the explosion. He fell onto the sidewalk and is currently receiving treatment at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in critical condition.
