The Hong Kong Marathon will take place early on Sunday morning.

Starting the night before, multiple districts will see traffic diversions and road closures.

This year's Hong Kong Marathon has about 74,000 participants.

Non-local runners make up 25 percent, coming from 110 countries and regions, including 40 elite runners.

To facilitate the event, several major arteries will have phased closures or diversions starting at 11:30p.m. on Saturday.

These include the Kowloon-bound slip road on Tuen Mun Road toward Ting Kau Bridge, and sections near the exits and entrances of Tai Lam Tunnel on Tsing Long Highway, as well as Tsing Ma Bridge and West Kowloon Highway.

This year's route includes the recently opened Central Kowloon Route (Yau Ma Tei section), which will be closed early Sunday.

The roads are expected to reopen in phases from Sunday morning till 2p.m.

A total of 220 daytime and 49 overnight bus routes, along with multiple green minibus routes, will be suspended or adjusted.
