PLA and Hong Kong unit conduct rescue drill off Mong Tung Wan

The Civil Aviation Department, along with People's Liberation Army's Hong Kong garrison and several government departments, carried out a search and rescue exercise to strengthen cooperation among the parties. 

The drill simulated a scenario where a helicopter travelling from Hong Kong to Macao faced engine failure and crashed into the sea off Mong Tung Wan on Lantau Island.

Catching fire, the helicopter left three people missing. 

fire Services Department deployed a fireboat to put out the blaze. Drones were also dispatched to search for the missing. 

The PLA sent helicopters to aid the operation, successfully rescuing one from the water. 

Meanwhile, the police watercraft found the another one on the shore, who was airlifted to a hospital by the Government Flying Service.

Diving team of the Fire Services Department retrieved the thrid injured person.

The hour-long exercise mobilized more than 100 personnel, with the aim of enhancing cooperation among different units to ensure efficient responses in the event of an actual accident.
