U.S. President Donald Trump said that Iran has proposed negotiations after his threat to strike the Islamic Republic over its crackdown targeting anti-government demonstrators.

This as activists say the death toll of protesters in Iran has risen to at least 544.

Iran state TV aired footage of funerals of slain security force members Sunday after demonstrations in the country exploded in recent days. Fifty security force members have been killed so far in the nationwide crackdown with more than 500 protesters believed to have been killed.

This as 10,600 people are said to be detained over two weeks of anti-government protests.

U.S. President Donald Trump said his national security team is weighing a range of potential responses against Iran for the crackdown including cyberattacks and direct strikes by the U.S. or Israel. "These are violent - if you call them leaders, I don't know if they are leaders, they rule through violence. But we're looking at it very seriously.

The military's looking at it and we're looking at some very strong options," Trump said.

Asked about Iran's threats of retaliation against the U.S. military and Israel if the U.S uses force to protect the demonstrators, Trump said. "We will consider things, targets they wouldn't believe, if they do that we will hit them at levels they've never been hit before and they won't even believe it. I have options that are so strong. So I mean, if they did that It'll be met with a very, very powerful force."

Iran's reformist President Masoud Pezeshkian said in a TV interview Sunday that if "People have concerns, we should sit with them and if it is our duty we should resolve their concerns.

But the higher duty is not to allow a group of rioters to come and destroy the entire society."

In France, thousands marched through central Paris on Sunday to show support for protesters in Iran. Many waved Iranian monarchy flags with some waving U.S. and Israel flags.

The vast majority of protesters were in favour of the return of the Iranian monarchy to power.

And in Los Angeles a U-Haul box truck drove down a street crowded with marchers demonstrating in support of the Iranian people, causing protesters to scramble out of the way.

They then ran after the speeding vehicle to try to attack the driver.
