During the morning rush hour on the MTR Kwun Tong Line, an overhead power system tripped, disrupting service across the line for nearly half an hour. It was the second incident on the Kwun Tong Line in half a month. The incident happened at around 7 a.m., during the morning commute. The platform at Diamond Hill Station on the Kwun Tong Line was packed with passengers waiting for trains. At Yau Tong Station, order was generally good. The MTR said an overhead power cable tripped between Lam Tin and Tiu Keng Leng stations. Travel time across the line increased by 15 to 20 minutes. About half an hour after the MTR’s alert, train services gradually returned to normal. There was also a fault on the Kwun Tong Line ten days earlier, at around 7 p.m. during the evening rush hour, when signal equipment was not operating smoothly. As a result, travel times across the line increased by 5 to 8 minutes, with services disrupted for about two hours.
