The new public hospital fees took effect this month. The Hospital Authority said 85 percent of the medical fee waiver applications have been approved.
Residents facing financial hardship when settling public healthcare bills can apply for a fee waiver. The Authority said 33,000 applications have been approved.
For patients who do not provide all the required documents for the applications, the Authority said it has granted more than 20,000 conditional waivers.
Patients are reminded to reserve one to two months for applications before appointments.
