The 8th Legislative Council members were sworn in this morning. Chief Executive John Lee, who administered the oaths to the newly elected members, entered the council chamber at 11:00 AM, and the swearing-in ceremony began. The first to take the oath is Starry Lee, who has served four terms as a Legislative Council member, The oath-taking ceremony lasted approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Afterwards, John Lee addressed the newly elected members, expressing high hopes for them and urging them to actively represent public opinion and speak to the government. He said he hopes that, under the principle of executive-led governance and patriots governing Hong Kong, the executive and legislative branches will work together to build a better Hong Kong, unite as one, develop the economy, improve people's livelihoods, deepen reforms, and create a shared future. He indicated his hope to work with legislators to promote support and reconstruction efforts following the Wang Fuk Court fire in Tai Po, ensuring that such tragedies do not happen again.
