France's government has confirmed Hollywood star George Clooney, along with his wife Amal and their 8-year-old twins Ella and Alexander, were officially granted French citizenship. The Clooneys' new legal status was announced last weekend in a decree published in the Journal Officiel. The 64-year-old actor of "Oceans" series told a radio programme that he loves the French culture and sought to live there to escape Hollywood and give his kids a more normal upbringing. He has previously hailed France's strict privacy laws that keeps his family shielded from paparazzi. The couple purchased an estate in Provence in August 2021 and have been living there ever since. It wasn't immediately clear whether Clooney retained his American citizenship. His wife, a Lebanese-British human rights lawyer, was naturalised under her maiden name, Amal Alamuddin.
