Eastern Theatre Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army has conducted multi-directional drills code-named "Justice Mission 2025" around Taiwan.

As a stern warning against "Taiwan Independence" separatist forces, and external interference, the military focused on subjects like long-distance raids to test out maneuver operations in remote areas.

Destroyers, frigates and fighter-bombers have been dispatched for China's second big drills this year that include maritime assault, area air control and submarine search to test capabilities in naval-air coordination and precision strike.

The move comes after Taipei secured its largest-ever weapon procurement deal with Washington estimated at about 11.1 billion US dollars.

The PLA said it had already carried out live-fire drills on maritime targets on Monday participated by Eastern Theatre Command troops from the army, navy, air force and rocket force.

Merchant ships were told to stay out.

The exercises covered relevant waters and airspace in the Taiwan Strait and to the north, southwest, southeast and east of the island, simulating "systemic" blockade on key ports, joint seizure of "comprehensive superiority" as well as deterrence outside the island chain, says a spokesperson for the theatre command.

Five large zones were specifically sketched.

According to Professor Meng Xiangqing from the National Defence University, the forces would seal off seas near the Keelung Port as well as waters and airspace of Kaohsiung.

Another subject of significance is the test to strike Taiwan's various military projects, particularly combative weapons such as the HIMARS rocket systems that it procured from the US arms package.

The foreign ministry in Beijing highlighted "any despicable act of crossing the line or making provocations on the Taiwan question will be met with a heavy blow."

Officials said the mission is intended to defend the fundamental interests of the Chinese nation and curb collusion between "Taiwan independence" forces and external elements that endangers peace and stability.

In response, Taiwan's Defense Ministry said rapid response exercises were underway with forces on high alert.
