Two Hong Kong residents have reportedly been killed while fighting in Ukraine.

The Immigration Department says it has received requests for assistance from their families and is following up on the cases.

The two Hong Kong men, aged 23 and 30, had enlisted in the conflict in Ukraine and died.

The Hong Kong Immigration Department said it contacted the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong as well as the Chinese Embassy in Ukraine to verify the circumstances -- and confirm the identities of the individuals involved.
