Legco President Andrew Leung shares feelings before stepping down

Legislative Council President Andrew Leung will step down in a few days. He noted that he was fortunate to have completed many challenges during his term, including the legislation of Article 23 of the Basic Law and the introduction of the new Code of Conduct for Legislators.

Speaking in a radio programme, Leung said:
“In a few days, I will step down from my 21 years of service as a legislator. Looking back on this journey, I feel very honored and grateful. It has been a wonderful journey, enriched by my contributions to Hong Kong and fulfilled by my service to the citizens.”

“When I shared my experiences with the incoming legislators, I specifically mentioned that being a legislator is a long and arduous task, not just "doing a job" or for personal glory, but rather prioritizing the overall interests of the country and Hong Kong. It also requires humbly learning in order to serve the citizens of Hong Kong in a down-to-earth manner.”
