Another powerful winter storm slammed the US state of California that led to evacuation warnings for mudslides in the south where forecasters predict its wettest Christmas in years.
Flash flooding warnings were issued in areas including Malibu. Much of the Sacramento Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area were under wind and flood advisories.

San Bernardino County firefighters said they rescued people trapped in their vehicles when mud and debris cascaded down a road leading to Wrightwood.
California Governor Gavin Newsom has declared a state of emergency for Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, and Shasta counties.
