Customs seized approximately HK$36 million worth of suspected counterfeit goods and arrested one person. Customs officials believe that criminals are taking advantage of the large volume of cross-border shipments during the Christmas season to smuggle counterfeit goods and mix them with genuine products for sale. About 83,000 suspected counterfeit goods were seized. The seized items included football shirts, handbags, and cosmetics. From August 8th to 19th this month, Customs conducted enforcement operations, cracking 27 cases and one case of cross-border transshipment of counterfeit goods in various districts and at the Hong Kong Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge. It is believed that all of them were destined for overseas destinations, including Europe, Australia, and the United States. A 55-year-old male truck driver was temporarily arrested at the port and is on bail pending further investigation.
