57,000 vehicle trips on 1st working day of Yau Ma Tei section of Central Kowloon Bypass

The Yau Ma Tei section of the Central Kowloon Bypass opened to traffic on Sunday, and on its first working day yesterday, 57,000 vehicle trips were made.

The Transport Department said that the performance was satisfactory and that road markings have been added to help drivers choose their lanes as early as possible.

Leung Sai-ho, Acting Assistant Commissioner of Transport, said:
"We have incorporated the feedback and added road markings. For the Kai Tak and Kowloon Bay exits mentioned earlier, in addition to the existing road signs, we have also added road markings to remind drivers that they have different destination options, allowing them to choose their lanes earlier."

"Currently, our road markings are located approximately 500 meters from the intersection of the double white lines, providing ample time for drivers to choose their lanes."
