Russian general killed in car explosion in Moscow

Russian general Fanil Sarvarov was killed by a bomb under his car in an attack that is suspected to be orchestrated by Ukrainian intelligence services. So far, Kyiv has not commented on the killing.
The spokesperson for the top criminal investigation agency confirmed that Sarvarov had succumbed to injuries.
He was the head the Operational Training Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces' General Staff and had previously fought in Chechnya. He also participated in the military campaign in Syria.
Russian President Vladimir Putin was immediately informed of Sarvarov's death.
It is the third such assassination of the country's military officers in the year. Authorities say they are pursuing numerous lines of inquiry regarding the murder.
