Today is the Winter Solstice -- traditionally one of the most important celebrations for Chinese families. Many headed to wet markets to prepare for family gatherings this morning. This year's winter solstice falls on a Sunday. Some residents went to this wet market in Wan Chai early in the morning filling their hands with groceries. Some say they are preparing a feast for eight to ten people tonight. Several other residents say seafood and vegetables have become pricier than regular days. Still, some vendors say this year's business is weaker than last year owing to subdued social atmosphere and growing habits of spending weekends up north.
