The Fire Services Department held a funeral with the highest honours for firefighter Ho Wai-ho, who died in the fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po.

The ceremony was held at the Hung Hom World Funeral Parlour. Ho Wai-ho's coffin, led by his colleagues, was carried onto a hearse converted from a fire truck at 10:30 a.m. A portrait of Ho Wai-ho was placed on the hood of the hearse.

Chief Executive John Lee, along with senior officials paid their respects outside the funeral parlour.

The hearse proceeded to Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po for a roadside memorial service, and then to the Shatin Fire Station where he was stationed. Director of Fire Services Andy Yang Yan-kin led firefighters in a final salute before the coffin was laid to rest at the Gallant Garden.

Ho Wai-ho joined the Fire Services Department in 2016 and died last month during the Wang Fuk Court fire rescue operation at the age of 37. The Fire Services Department posthumously awarded him the honorary rank of Firefighter Sergeant.
