During an open debate of the United Nations Security Council, China's permanent representative, Fu Cong, has once again urgeD the retraction of the controversial Taiwan remarks made by Japanese prime minister Sanae Takaichi.

The envoy has previously sent two letters to the UN secretary-general on the issue.

Fu Cong emphasised that at a time when the international community is reflecting upon history, Takaichi's erroneous comments have gone against the trend by implying Taiwan is a potential military contingency for her country.

This openly contravened the political commitments that Japan has made to China, he said.

Taiwan is an inalianable part of China and Japan's return of the island contitutes a key component of the post-war international order.

Fu said eighty years on, "the lessons of the World War Two are still fresh" as he pressed countries to resist the resurgence of Japan's militarism and fascism.

Fu renewed his call on Tokyo to retract Takaiwan's Taiwan remarks, repent the wrongdoings, and refrain from continuing down the wrong path.
