The 32-year-old son of Hollywood icon Rob Reiner was arrested on suspicion of murder and held without bail in the stabbing deaths of his parents in their Los Angeles home, authorities said. Nick Reiner was taken into custody hours after Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner were found dead, with police not mentioning a motive. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said Reiner was deranged and he was not a fan of the actor and director, whose iconic movies included A Few Good Men, When Harry Met Sally and This Is Spinal Tap. "How Much You Figure I Owe You?" -- He was "Meathead" in All in the Family. "But I got more, a lot more" -- The straight-man documentary maker in the classic spoof of heavy metal bands This Is Spinal Tap. The well-respected director of movies such as The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, among others. And the son of another comedy legend, the late Carl Reiner. Reiner, 78, and his 68-year-old wife Michelle, were found dead in their Los Angeles home on Sunday. Reiner's son, Nick Reiner was taken into custody on Monday as a suspect in the case. "We have our robbery homicide division handling the investigation," said Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell. "They worked throughout the night on this case and were able to take into custody Nick Reiner, a suspect, in this case. He was subsequently booked for murder and is being held on 4 million dollars bail." Apart from making movies, Reiner was also a political activist, and a critic of US President Donald Trump. Soon after the news of his death emerged, Trump took to his Truth Social account, denouncing Reiner as suffering from "Trump Derangement Syndrome", suggesting he was killed because of the anger he caused by his dislike for the president. Many were outraged by Trump's post including Republicans, but the president doubled down when asked about it. "Well, I wasn't a fan of his at all," said Trump. "He was a deranged person as far as Trump is concerned. He said he likely knew it was false. In fact, it's the exact opposite, that I was a friend of Russia, controlled by Russia, you know, it was the Russia hoax. He was one of the people behind it. I think he hurt himself in career-wise. He became like a deranged person, Trump Derangement Syndrome. So I was not a fan of Rob Reiner at all, in any way, shape, or form. I thought he was very bad for our country." At Hollywood's Walk of Fame, fans paid tribute to the A Few Good Men director by placing flowers on his star. Media were camped outside his home in Los Angeles, where his assistant, Rocco, made an appearance. He said the family was in need of privacy and would appreciate a little bit of space.
