A Filipino domestic worker, who survived the devastating Tai Po fire, had her contract terminated due to the employer's financial difficulties.

Memories of the Tai Po fire still haunt her, more than two weeks after it happened.

Vame Mariz Wayas Verador is a Filipino who worked for a family of four in Wang Fuk Court.

Choking back tears, the survivor recounted how she escaped from 17th floor while holding a baby boy in her arm, together with his grandma.

The nightmare started in a peaceful afternoon when she was looking after an asleep toddler until someone knocked on the door.

Vame said, "When I was already on the 15th floor that's when I learnt the building was on fire. I was feeling the heat and I could smell something is burning. I was crying already. I was shaking. I was carrying the baby. The grandmother was behind me. When I opened the door, I saw the other building almost got on fire. There was rainning like hot stones. Materials were burning and falling down. People were shouting. I was praying to the Lord to help me. I was trying the calm the crying baby. I covered the baby with a jacket. When I was running and turned back again. I found the grandmother was not behind me so I tried to find her again. I shouted "Ma Ma, Ma Ma" until she saw me and approached me."

Fortunately, the trio managed to escaped unscathed.

But just a few days ago, Vame got another piece of bad news.

Vame said, "My agnecy told me to sign something and they said it was a termination by my employer. I understand that their property also caught fire, but it also hurt me cause I did my best. This still happens to me."

She is a single mum of four - two in college and two in high school.

She said she will take some rest to recovery mentally and physically before finding the next employer.

Christmas is around the corner.

The organizations are sending out packages of daily necessities to foreign domestic workers who survived the Tai Po fire.

Each of them will also be given a suitcase that they can carry the packages along.
