Today marks the 88th anniversary of the Nanjing Massacre, with memorial ceremonies being held across the nation. China stressed those who attempt to revive Japanese militarism are destined to fail. A flag raising ceremony was held at the Memorial Hall of the Victims of the Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders in Nanjing at 10 this morning. Those attending observed a moment of silence. Head of the Organisation Department Shi Taifeng called the massacre committed by the Japanese military an anti-human crime. Shi said there is a need for a correct view of the Second World War and that China remains steadfast in its pursuit for peaceful development. On the 13th of December, 1937, Japanese forces seized the city of Nanjing before eventually killing 300,000 people.
