Foreign Ministry cautions citizens to avoid Japan trips in wake of earthquakes

China's foreign ministry has renewed its travel alert for citizens travelling to Japan. This after a string of earthquakes struck off the eastern coast of Aomori, the northernmost prefecture of the Honshu Island. The highest magnitude tremor hit 7.5 on the Richter scale. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as the Chinese embassy and consulates have issued an advisory that citizens should avoid making recent trips to the country and take safety precautions. In the event of emergency, Chinese compatriots are advised to report to the police or reach out for consular assistance.
