Thailand and Cambodia resume border skirmishes

At least one Thai soldier has been killed and seven others wounded as clashes with Cambodian forces expanded to several new locations. 

Tensions have simmered since the Southeast Asian neighbours signed a truce agreement in October, pushed by US President Donald Trump, after their territorial disputes led to five days of combat in July that killed dozens. 

Thai officials said Cambodian troops fired first into Thai territory in multiple areas. Thailand then used aircraft "to strike military targets in several areas to suppress Cambodian supporting fire attacks."

Cambodian side maintained that Thai military attacked Cambodian troops first, and urged Thailand to stop "all hostile activities that threaten peace and stability in the region."
