Christine Fong becomes "Queen of votes" in LegCo election

The Legislation Council election has concluded, with the polling rate reaching 31.9 percent, higher than the previous Legco election.

In the direct election in geographical constituencies, Christine Fong Kwok-shan won New Territories South East with 58,828 votes, the highest across the city, becoming the "Queen of votes". She won after losing in five previous LegCo elections.

The constituency's other winner is Chris Ip Ngo-tung of the DAB party.

Incumbent Gary Chan, chairman of the DAB party, retained his seat in New Territories North East, the constituency that covers Tai Po's Wang Fuk Court where the recent deadly fire took place.

Another incumbent Dominic Lee Tsz-king of the New People's Party also won.

Olympic gold medalist Vivian Kong won in the tourism sector, beating Mat Yat-chiu.

In the retail sector, incumbent Peter Shiu of the Liberal Party defeated Amy Tse Yau On-yee, chairman of the HK Retail Management Association.
