High-level discussions on ending the Russia-Ukraine conflict are reportedly progressing on dual tracks, as US and Ukrainian officials held talks in Miami, and as European leaders prepare for a meeting in London to assess the situation and a US-proposed peace plan.

This as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he has held a long and substantive phone call with US President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stands to attention as the country's national anthem is played. The ceremony Saturday in Kyiv was to mark 'Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.'

Zelenskyy thanked his people for being strong saying "only thanks to truly strong people are nations strong and only strong nations are preserved on Earth".

This as Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trumps son-in-law Jared Kushner held two days of talks with Ukraine's senior negotiator Rushern Umerov in Miami which both sides called constructive discussions on advancing a credible pathway toward a durable and just peace in Ukraine.

Zelenskyy said Ukraine would continue cooperating with the US to achieve real peace emphasising any proposals must be viable and must not omit critical issues concerning peace, security and post-war reconstruction.

Meanwhile in the city of Lutsk in northwestern Ukraine an overnight Russian drone and missile strike hit this warehouse causing a major fire. Firefighters worked to contain the blaze.

The overnight Russian attack was widespread hitting ten regions in Ukraine. Russia reportedly used 653 drones and 51 missiles.

Ukraine said its forces shot down and neutralised 585 drones and 30 missiles, according to the Ukrainian air force, adding that 29 locations were struck. There were no reports of casualties.
