$10,000 emergency funds had been given to 1,930 Tai Po fire victim households

The government said that as of Friday, HK$10,000 in emergency funds had been distributed to 1,930 households in Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po. 

The government's relief fund has accumulated HK$3 billion and is being planned for long-term assistance to disaster victims.

Following the fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po, the government established the "Tai Po Wang Fuk Court Relief Fund" to assist disaster victims.

Secretary for Home Affairs and Youth Affairs Alice said on a radio programme on Saturday that HK$2.7 billion in donations have been received. Combined with the HK$300 million contributed by the government, the fund totals HK$3 billion, which the government is planning for long-term assistance.

Alice Mak said: “This assistance fund will launch different programs at different stages to help affected households.

Everyone can tell the social worker about their needs.

Some are tenants who need to solve their current housing problems, but where there are tenants, there are also landlords, meaning that rental income is the source of income for landlords. So how to solve the problems of these landlords is an issue we are considering.”
