The government said it will discuss new legislation banning smoking at construction sites with the incoming legislative body.
This comes amid increasing concerns over construction safety after the deadly fire at Wang Fuk Court.
Secretary for Labour and Welfare Chris Sun acknowledged growing calls for smoking bans at construction sites.
He said if the new batch of lawmakers are on the same page, authorities will introduce the law promptly.
Meanwhile, Secretary for Health Lo Chung-mau revealed the latest situation regarding fire victims: 79 patients admitted to hospitals are no longer at risk, 49 have been discharged from hospitals, 6 are in serious condition, while 24 are stable.
