A police officer is in critical condition after being injured on Thursday during a selection exercise for the force's elite Special Duties Unit, or SDU. Sources say he lost consciousness after jumping into the sea from a height of eight metres. Commissioner of Police Joe Chow visited the injured officer at Princess Margaret Hospital this afternoon. The injured officer is a 31-year-old senior inspector who has served for nine years. He was taking part in a selection test for the SDU, known as the Flying Tigers. The test involved swimming and diving tasks. The force extended its sympathies to the officer's family and immediately suspended the selection process.
