Beijing has vowed to continue to play a constructive role in resolving the Ukraine crisis and will maintain strategic communications with Moscow.

Foreign Minister Wang Yi said he and Russia's top diplomat, Sergey Lavrov, are resolved to jointly safeguard the outcomes of the World War Two victory as well as the post-war international order.

There is also strategic alignment on issues involving Japan.

During a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Foreign Minister Wang Yi has called for safeguarding the outcomes of the World War Two victory, noting the talks between President Xi Jinping and Russian leader Vladimir Putin have charted the course of bilateral relations.

Wang stressed the significance of building mutual trust and enhancing strategic communication and cooperation.

He told Lavrov that the international environment has become increasingly unstable, uncertain and unpredictable, yet China-Russia relations "dare to brave high winds and choppy waters", and meet challenges head-on under the leaders' strategic guidance.

China has pledged to contribute further to the development of a more just and equitable international order.

On Russia's latest visa-free waiver for Chinese nationals starting this month, Wang lauded the move as a manifestation of their comprehensive partnership.

Lavrov expressed willingness to strengthen cooperation with China within multinational frameworks in safeguarding international safety and stability.

Reaffirming the one-China principle, Lavrov voiced firm support for Beijing on the Taiwan question and further noted Russia supports China's hosting of the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in Shenzhen next year.
